Curtains are much more important than you might think.
How can that be? Well, they might be a small detail of your interior design, but if you get the curtains wrong, everything else will look off as well. So how can you hang your curtains right?
Why should you use a laser level?
Do you think that hanging curtain rods or curtains is easy? Yes? Well, no offense, but I have to ask you… Have you ever actually tried to do that?
The problem with hanging curtain rod or curtains themselves is getting them to be level. Sure, if you are happy with uneven curtains, you can try to do it by the eye. However, if you take pride in your home, then you must get some help.
The best way to hang curtain rods or curtains is with a laser level. Laser level is a tool that is made from a laser beam projector which projects a red or green light along the horizontal or vertical axis.
It can come incredibly handy when you want to hang curtain rods or curtains themselves!
The tools you will need
Now that you understand that this is no easy job, you can prepare properly, and do it well.
Here are the tools that you need to hang the curtain rods:
- Curtain rods
- Laser level
- Laser tape
- Electric drill
And yes, if you really want to, you can use a regular level and a regular tape, but I’d recommend laser ones just for accuracy.
How to hang curtain rods
Okay, so now you have got all your tools with you, and are ready to hang the curtain rods. Are you a little bit intimidated by the task?
Don’t worry, that’s completely normal, especially if you haven’t done it before. You can do it!
So here are the main steps of hanging curtain rods:
- Pick the perfect spot for the first rod. Decide where you want to install the curtain rods. Your best is probably above the frame and a bit wider than it. Pick a spot and mark it with a pencil. Then screw in the rod.
- Find the perfect spot for the second rod. Now, this is the hardest part, and if you mess it up, your curtains are going to look ugly (sorry, but that’s the truth!). Use the laser level and the laser tape to find the perfect spot for the second rod (it should of course be parallel to the first one!). Then screw in the second rod.
- Hang the curtains. Now it’s time to hang the curtains. No explanation necessary, right? Walk few steps back and look at your curtains. Are they level? They should be if you used a laser level and a laser tape. Well done!
Many people like to skimp on specialty tools. “Oh, I don’t need, I can handle it without this tool!” they say to themselves. The problem?
The results of “handling it” are usually sub-par at best and horrendous at worst.
Keep in mind that specialized tools, from a laser level to a grout removal tool can make your life much easier, so don’t be stingy and get the ones that you need!
